BALLYHAISE FRAMED
Photographer Anne Burke was commissioned by Cavan County Arts Office to produce a photographic survey of the town of Ballyhaise, together with a contextualising essay. This work, together with a short history of Ballyhaise by Ciaran Parker, was then given to sixteen print makers, as well as the poet Tom Conaty, who responded in turn to the concept of Ballyhaise – a rural town in transition – as mediated either through the work presented to them or through their own experience of the town. In addition to the exhibition in Cavan in September 2007 of the combined work Ballyhaise Framed, a limited edition box set was compiled of the work of the sixteen print makers. I was one of the print makers commissioned. Included here are the screenprint I made and a poem by Tom Conaty both in response to the concept of Ballyhaise a rural town in transition. |
